GHAZIABAD: The district administration has acquired about 100 hectares of land in Modinagar’s Niwari for the establishment of an industrial hub, to be developed by the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA).

On Monday, officials confirmed that the land acquisition process has concluded, with farmers receiving compensation at four times the prevailing circle rate.

This acquisition is a crucial advancement in the state government’s efforts to enhance industrial infrastructure, attract new investments, and create employment opportunities in the rapidly evolving NCR region.

Additional District Magistrate (Land Acquisition) Avaneesh Kumar informed the TOI that approximately 91 hectares were acquired from farmers, while nearly 9 hectares came from the Gram Sabha, bringing the total acquired area to around 100 hectares.

Officials anticipate that this project will boost Ghaziabad’s industrial capacity and complement existing infrastructure and logistics projects in the Modinagar area.

This development follows UPSIDA’s initial plans from three years ago, when 340 acres of land were earmarked for the project.

Despite the demand for land to establish new industries, the district has not seen the development of new industrial clusters in over 20 years, as UPSIDA had exhausted its land bank.

Traditionally recognized as an industrial city, Ghaziabad hosts more than 27,000 industries across 10 clusters, employing over 500,000 people. However, due to UPSIDA’s inability to create new clusters, the demand for industrial land remains unmet.
