KIADB Acquires 838 Acres for Phase II in Chamarajanagar

Representative image MYSURU: The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) has successfully acquired 838 acres for the Phase II expansion of the Kellamballi-Badanaguppe Industrial Area in Chamarajanagar district. Initially, KIADB had notified 1,189 acres for acquisition. The majority of landowners have received compensation, with the remainder to follow once legal disputes are resolved. Officials have indicated that development has commenced on part of the acquired land for the creation of industrial plots. Chamarajanagar ZP survey finds 35,050 houseless families in 2024-25

They have recommended the construction of homes for these families, pending state approval for houses to be allocated under various government housing schemes. Among the 35,050 identified houseless families, Chamarajanagar taluk reported the highest with 11,582, followed by Gundlupet (10,782), Hanur (3,729), Kollegal (4,499), and Yelandur (4,458).
