LUCKNOW: The state government has banned the sale, purchase, and registration of land within the specified zones of the Lucknow Development Authority’s (LDA) planned IT City and Wellness City projects along Sultanpur Road. This ban took effect on Saturday.
The order states that any transfer or registration of land within the project boundaries will be deemed invalid. This measure aims to curb speculative land transactions and ensure that the benefits of the land pooling initiative are directed only to current landowners.
The decision is anticipated to limit land trading in the project areas and deter investors from acquiring land solely for financial gain through the land pooling policy. Consequently, only legitimate landowners listed in revenue records will qualify for benefits under the scheme.
The IT City project will span approximately 1,054 hectares, while the Wellness City will cover nearly 1,198 acres along Kisan Path. Both developments are based on a land pooling model, wherein landowners relinquish land in exchange for developed plots. Typically, farmers receive developed land equating to 25% of the area they contribute.
According to LDA officials, the land pooling process will proceed; however, only those landowners whose names are already present in the revenue records will be allowed to participate. Individuals purchasing land post-notification will not be eligible for any advantages under the scheme.
