Dust and Waste Discovered in Ghaziabad Inspection Drive

NEW DELHI: An inspection by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) revealed twenty-four instances of noticeable road dust and accumulation of construction and demolition waste in various locations across Ghaziabad on Wednesday.

The assessment identified shortcomings in regular street sweeping operations, dust suppression efforts, and the proper handling and disposal of construction debris in certain areas.

“The commission has instructed the relevant authorities to enhance dust mitigation strategies, including regular mechanized sweeping, targeted water sprinkling, and timely removal of accumulated debris,” an official stated.

The inspection, conducted by ten flying squad teams, focused on assessing visible road dust levels and evaluating cleaning operations carried out by the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam.

The CAQM noted that road dust remains a major contributor to increased particulate matter (PM) levels in urban regions, necessitating concentrated and targeted mitigation measures from all involved agencies.

“Continuous on-ground monitoring and effective dust control implementation were emphasized,” the official added.
