LUCKNOW: Fire safety is now a fundamental requirement for building map approvals in Lucknow.
The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has mandated that all buildings needing a fire NOC must present a valid certificate for map approval.
LDA Vice-Chairperson Prathamesh Kumar announced this policy, which enforces compliance with the UP Fire Safety and Emergency Services Act, 2022, and Rules, 2024.
Under the new regulations, maps of commercial and public-use buildings that fall under fire safety standards will not be approved without a valid fire NOC from the fire department.
For buildings exempt from mandatory fire NOC regulations, such as hotels, schools, hospitals, and coaching centers under 15 meters tall or less than 500 square meters, owners must submit a fire and electrical safety affidavit.
They are also required to obtain a fire safety certificate or conduct a fire audit with the fire department within three months of receiving map approval. Non-compliance will result in penalties.
The new rules will impact apartments, multi-storey buildings, educational institutions, hospitals, hotels, guest houses, restaurants, banquet halls, coaching centers, libraries, banks, cinemas, theatres, gyms, and other specialized buildings. The LDA aims to enhance fire safety prior to construction initiation.
