Uttar Pradesh extends housing scheme to all scheduled tribes

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has broadened the scope of the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana-Gramin to encompass all remaining Scheduled Tribes (STs), with the goal of achieving universal housing coverage for tribal communities in the state. This decision follows a proposal from the Rural Development Department as the earlier targeted groups under the scheme neared saturation. Initially, the scheme included select communities such as Musahar and Vantangia, covering 18 castes and tribes from 2020-21 to 2025-26. PMAY Houses in Bihar for 1.04 Crore: Rural Minister

PATNA: On Tuesday, Rural Development Department (RDD) Minister Shrawan Kumar presented to the state assembly that the construction of pucca houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is slated for 1.04 crore families identified through a survey, pending approval from the Centre. “The list of the 1.04 crore families eligible for pucca houses under PMAY has been sent to the Centre, and we are currently awaiting their clearance,” Kumar stated, noting that 20 lakh families have already applied online for housing under PMAY.
