NOIDA: The Gautam Buddh Nagar police commissionerate has successfully reclaimed encroached land valued at over ₹5,900 crore during its major anti-encroachment initiative for 2025-26. This extensive operation was a collaborative effort between police and development authorities across Noida and Greater Noida.
Initiated under the guidance of Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, the campaign aims to eliminate illegal encroachments on government and authority-owned land while taking stern action against land mafias in the district. So far, a total of 1,325,960 square yards have been cleared, with plans for the operation to continue in the upcoming months, officials stated.
Data indicates that the most significant amount of land recovery occurred in central Noida, where 889,127 square yards, valued at over ₹5,000 crore, were freed from encroachments. In Greater Noida, 421,833 square yards of land worth approximately ₹836 crore were reclaimed, while in the Noida zone, 15,000 square yards valued at nearly ₹58 crore were also cleared.
Officials highlighted that these encroachments posed a considerable obstacle to planned urban development and the execution of government projects in various parts of the district. Many illegal structures were reportedly built on public land by land mafias and encroachers, disrupting infrastructure and civic development.
During the campaign, police enforced strict legal measures, filing cases against multiple individuals involved in the unlawful occupation of government land. The aim of the anti-encroachment drives is not only to recover land but also to enhance law enforcement and restore public trust in the administration, officials noted.
According to a police officer, “The goal of the campaign is to safeguard valuable government and authority land from illegal occupation and ensure its availability for public welfare and development projects.”
Coordinated efforts between police and local development authorities were essential for the success of the operations throughout the district. Authorities affirmed that actions against illegal encroachment and land mafias will persist vigorously in the future.
