INDORE: Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav announced on Monday a 10% rebate on property tax for buildings that implement functional rainwater harvesting systems. This initiative is aimed at enhancing groundwater conservation throughout the city.
Building owners interested in this incentive will need to complete an on-site inspection, testing, and certification by authorized municipal building officers. The administration has also stated that if a certified rainwater harvesting system is found to be non-functional or discontinued during future inspections, the property tax exemption will be rescinded starting the following financial year.
During a review meeting with Indore Municipal Corporation officials, Bhargav evaluated various aspects of urban transit management, intersection improvements, parking facilities, and the timelines for structural installations.
Officials are tasked with ensuring the unveiling of the Swami Vivekananda statue and the development of its surrounding complex at Sirpur Lake by September 11. Additionally, the soon-to-be-completed route connecting Annapurna Road and Sudama Nagar will be named ‘Atal Path’, featuring a statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, with the foundation stone ceremony set for August 16.
A proposal to rename the newly constructed MR-04 road, which runs between Rajkumar Bridge and Banganga Bridge, after Syama Prasad Mookerjee was also discussed during the meeting.
The mayor reviewed technical plans for left-turn expansions and the removal of bottlenecks at key junctions, including Khalsa Chowk, Industry House Square, High Court Square, World Cup Square, Satya Sai Square, Indraprasth Square, and near Bhandari Resort on Kanadia Road. Immediate implementation of technical modifications was directed to alleviate increasing vehicular congestion.
