MARGAO: The Directorate of Settlement and Land Records (DSLR) has announced the commencement of the second phase of the NAKSHA pilot project, which focuses on land inquiry proceedings in Panaji and Margao to confirm property ownership.

Notices have been distributed in the jurisdictions of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), Margao Municipal Council, and Cuncolim Municipal Council, including peri-urban Tiswadi. Property owners have been requested to present their title documents to the inquiry officers. This follows the completion of ground-truthing to verify property boundaries from the first phase.

Frederick Gonsalves, inspector of survey and land records, city survey, Panaji, stated, “We are now at the stage where we need to finalize the titles, necessitating these inquiries.” Owners are encouraged to verify the accuracy of boundary markings and have 30 days to file any objections.

“Record of rights will be established, requiring title documents, Aadhaar card, and mobile number. A draft property card will then be prepared, which will also be open for objections for another 30 days,” Gonsalves added.

The inquiry officers will assess rights, title, and interests over the surveyed lands, leading to the preparation of draft urban property cards (UrPro) — digital title records with unique IDs for each parcel.
