NEW DELHI: In July 2026, Mumbai, under the jurisdiction of the BMC, saw 13,617 property registrations, marking an 8.3% increase compared to the previous year, as reported by Knight Frank India.
During this month, the Maharashtra government generated ₹1,223 crore in stamp duty, up 8.9% year-on-year. This figure represents the highest July revenue recorded in the last 14 years.
Compared to June 2026, the number of registrations rose by approximately 2% from 13,413, with stamp duty collections rising by 13% from ₹1,086 crore.
In July 2025, Mumbai had 12,579 property registrations and generated ₹1,123 crore in stamp duty.
Shishir Baijal, Chairman & Managing Director of Knight Frank India, stated that Mumbai’s residential market continues to thrive, achieving its best July performance in over 14 years despite a high comparative base. He noted that transaction volumes have remained stable both year-on-year and sequentially, while revenue has seen a significant increase, suggesting a sustained demand for higher-value homes.
Baijal further emphasized the robust demand for quality residential developments, bolstered by Mumbai’s strong economic fundamentals, infrastructure growth, and long-term investment attractiveness.
Data indicates that July registrations have surged from 5,139 units in July 2013 and 2,662 units in July 2020.
Stamp duty collections have also increased notably from ₹287 crore in July 2013 and ₹214 crore in July 2020 to ₹1,223 crore in July 2026.
