Lucknow civic body greenlights major projects, new Amausi township

LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation convened a House meeting on Wednesday, unanimously approving several development proposals, including the construction of a township on 21.6 acres of land in Amausi.

The LMC holds 41.6 acres in Amausi, with 20 acres designated as a shooting range. Plans were set to revamp this shooting range through public-private partnerships, while the remaining 21.6 acres will be transferred to the LDA for residential apartment development.

The House also agreed to transfer 5,429.96 square meters of land in Jiyamau, returned by the Deendayal Upadhyay Seva Nyas, to the LDA for planned development.

It was further resolved to allocate a ward development fund of ₹1.10 crore for each of the city’s 110 wards. This fund will be utilized for local infrastructure improvements such as drains, roads, and basic amenities.

Mayor Sushma Kharkwal stated that these decisions signify a concerted effort to enhance essential services and facilitate planned urban growth.

The meeting also approved road construction in Aliganj, Gol Market, Kapoorthala, and Rajnikhand, along with a simplification of property mutation rates.

Furthermore, proposals for installing solar lights in city parks, beautifying the Dhobighat pond in Alamnagar, desilting the Kukrail River, and developing green zones in Natkur using the Miyawaki method were also approved.

To address urban waterlogging issues, drainage and sewer projects in Lohia Nagar, Vikas Nagar, and Bhawaniganj were sanctioned, alongside an underground drainage system near the Amausi railway station.

Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar emphasized, “We are prioritizing projects that focus on drainage, road connectivity, and public amenities. Specific timelines will be established and monitored to ensure these initiatives are completed promptly.”
