LUCKNOW: On Thursday, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) demolished approximately 18 illegal structures in Gomtinagar Extension, reclaiming 10,500 sqm of acquired land valued at around Rs 150 crore. The operation was executed under the guidance of LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar.

According to additional secretary Gyanendra Verma, the land in Maleshemau village was acquired in 2000 as part of the Amar Shaheed Path–Gomtinagar Extension scheme. However, several individuals illegally occupied the land and constructed structures on Khasra numbers 406, 407, 408, and 409 in Sector 6.

These encroachments were identified in a recent survey initiated by the LDA VC, who instructed that the site be cleared for future development into residential and commercial plots.

A collaborative team from the acquisition and enforcement sections, supported by the police, carried out the demolition. Despite protests and attempts to hinder the process from illegal occupants, the authority successfully completed the operation.

Verma stated that the reclaimed land will be transformed into plots, with the planning section currently finalizing a proposal.
