MUMBAI: Actor John Abraham, a notable figure in Mumbai’s real estate scene, has acquired a bungalow in Bandra West for approximately Rs 84 crore.
This 1926-built bungalow, owned by the DeVitre Parsi family, is located on the serene St Martin Road, connecting Bandra’s iconic Turner Road and the lively Hill Road.
Addressed simply as 20, St Martin Road, the property includes four bedrooms, a spacious hall, a garden with fruit trees, and an outhouse.
When asked about redevelopment plans, a source familiar with the deal stated, “He has no such intentions. He simply fell in love with the property.”
Fredun DeVitre, one of the property’s co-owners, expressed to TOI: “The children have settled overseas, and they wanted us to finalize matters now. The family was reluctant to sell to a developer who might demolish the house for construction.”
In December 2023, Abraham also acquired a bungalow on Linking Road, Khar, for Rs 75 crore.
This property, known as 372 Nirmal Bhavan, is a three-story building that previously belonged to Pravin Nathalal Shah and his family.
Situated in a prime area, this location boasts some of the city’s highest commercial property rates.
Abraham is among many Bollywood stars heavily investing in real estate. In 2009, he purchased a prominent plot near Petit School in Bandra West from the Rattansha Parsi family.
Analysts note that several Bollywood celebrities are investing in luxury apartments, villas, and commercial properties for either personal enjoyment or as an investment strategy.
Many have initiated their own real estate firms or collaborated with established developers to create housing projects, resorts, and other ventures.
Some have even entered the interior design and home decor sectors.
Industry insiders indicate that leading figures in the film world often invest in residential and commercial properties, acquiring expansive penthouses, row houses, and bungalows in preferred locales between Bandra and Andheri.
