VISAKHAPATNAM: GVMC commissioner Ketan Garg has emphasized the need for town planning officials to prioritize the timely processing of building permissions, layout regularization scheme (LRS) applications, and transferable development rights (TDR) approvals. He warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against those who delay official work or participate in corrupt practices.
During a review of town planning efforts on Thursday with chief city planner A Prabhakara Rao and other officials, the commissioner expressed concern about delays in processing building permission applications from citizens. He noted that Town Planning officials were taking an excessive amount of time to address these applications, and similar delays were observed in the LRS approval process established by the state government.
Commissioner Garg instructed officials to maintain complete transparency throughout the approval processes for building permissions, LRS, and TDR, asserting that there should be no room for corruption at any stage. He reiterated that disciplinary actions would follow any genuine complaints from the public against officials involved in corrupt practices, making it clear that delays and negligence would not be tolerated.
Officials were instructed to thoroughly review building applications submitted via the APDPMS portal and to ensure these are forwarded to the appropriate authorities swiftly, ideally within two days. Moreover, he directed that field verification of LRS applications be carried out expediently to facilitate prompt resolutions.
