GURUGRAM: Country Club of Malibu Towne has finally obtained its occupation certificate (OC) after a two-year wait, allowing it to reopen after its closure in 2024. The township’s license, which expired in 2020, was renewed six years later, in January 2026, enabling the builder to proceed with the OC application.
Authorities have confirmed that all outstanding paperwork, payments, and required corrections that led to the sealing of the club are now complete. Residents of Malibu Towne, which is home to nearly 10,000 people, can look forward to the reopening of essential amenities, including the swimming pool.
The 204-acre township in Sector 50, established in the mid-1990s, relies on the club for facilities like the swimming pool, gardens, and spaces for community events.
The OC application was submitted by the builder, Malibu Estate Pvt Ltd (MEPL), at the end of January 2026. Authorities had previously advised the builder to first renew the township’s license before applying for the club’s OC. The license was approved by DTCP, Chandigarh, on January 9, 2026, after which MEPL formally applied for the OC to DTP, Gurgaon.
Vijay Shiv Nath, Chairman of Malibu Towne RWA’s Federation, stated, “This positive outcome results from sustained follow-ups and numerous meetings over the past months involving MEPL, the Department of Town and Country Planning, and the assistance of Ward Councillor Kuldeep Yadav.”
The compliance issues related to Malibu Towne date back to 2020 when DTCP rejected its completion certificate due to the failure to develop community sites by the November 2020 deadline. Out of 16 approved community sites, only 11 were built according to the regulations.
Malibu Towne has faced allegations of violations, including illegal constructions in green belts, development without environmental clearance, and deviations from approved plans. In 2020, a case was filed against the developers and directors following a complaint from the DTP. Police registered the case after finding the developer’s responses to notices unsatisfactory.
