Delhi CM requests ₹100 crore for unauthorized colonies plan

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has requested ₹100 crores from the Centre to expedite the implementation of the PM-UDAY scheme, aimed at granting property rights to residents of 1,511 unauthorized colonies in the national capital, as stated in a CMO release on Sunday.

In a correspondence with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, the Chief Minister emphasized that the department will establish PM-UDAY (Pradhan Mantri Unauthorised Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana) cells across all 13 districts of Delhi, each supervised by an Additional District Magistrate (ADM).

She highlighted a proposed allocation of ₹100 crores for the first phase in the 2026-27 fiscal year to ensure timely completion of related activities.

Among the proposed expenditures, ₹65 crores are earmarked for developing a modern land survey and mapping system under the DRISHTI initiative, which will enhance transparency, accuracy, and technological advancement in property verification and land record modernization.

Additionally, ₹25 crores have been allocated for establishing PM-UDAY cells, essential for issuing property-related documents and authorization letters within the mandated 45-day timeframe.

The proposal also includes ₹10 crores for public awareness and outreach efforts, including workshops with Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs), help desk establishments, and dissemination of crucial information such as eligibility timelines.

The Delhi government’s Revenue Department has been designated as the nodal agency for implementing the PM-UDAY scheme throughout the capital.

A comprehensive effort will involve physical verification of properties, digital mapping with modern technology, and updating land records in all 1,511 unauthorized colonies of Delhi.

Timely financial support from the Central government is crucial to ensure that numerous residents of Delhi can benefit from property rights swiftly and easily, the Chief Minister noted.
