PATNA: Emphasizing the need for timely resolution of homebuyers’ complaints and enhanced transparency in the real estate sector, Bihar’s Urban Development and Housing Minister, Nitish Mishra, instructed officials to expedite the clearing of pending cases before the Bihar Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) during a high-level review meeting. This meeting saw participation from RERA Chairman Vivek Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary Vinay Kumar, Inquiry Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary Manoj Kumar, and other senior officials.
Mishra underlined that safeguarding homebuyers’ interests and ensuring accountability are integral to RERA’s mission, insisting that all complaints should be addressed within a specific timeframe, with a focus on public welfare in decision-making.
In light of ongoing urbanization, the minister advocated for strict adherence to construction quality and safety standards, urging officials and stakeholders to prioritize earthquake-resistant technologies to provide safe and durable housing.
The meeting also assessed measures to bolster homebuyer protections, ensure prompt project completions, and enhance grievance redressal mechanisms. Mishra emphasized that maintaining trust among homebuyers is vital for the sustainable growth of the sector.
He further advocated for increasing investment and enhancing the ease of doing business for developers, asserting that transparent regulations and streamlined processes would attract investments and facilitate planned urban development.
Expansion of planning areas statewide was also a topic of discussion, with Mishra urging officials to accelerate the process, affirming that planned urban growth is essential for Bihar’s long-term development.
