MUMBAI: The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) has filed a case against two directors of a Mumbai-based real estate firm for not providing essential amenities to a housing society in Vile Parle, according to police reports on Monday.
A complaint from an SRA assistant engineer alleges that Joseph S Pattathu and Pearl Joseph Pattathu, directors of Pattathu Brothers, violated redevelopment agreements by not delivering six required facilities to eligible beneficiaries after obtaining completion certificates for the project.
An official stated that the firm had received all necessary approvals from the SRA, including the Letter of Intent (LOI) and Occupation Certificate (OC), for the redevelopment of Ganesh Kripa Co-operative Housing Society. However, after providing tenements to eligible beneficiaries, the developer failed to hand over six mandatory components, which include two daycares and three office spaces, to the society.
Inspectors from the SRA found that the amenities intended for residents were instead given to third parties for personal gain, as alleged in the complaint.
A case has been registered under sections 329(4) (criminal house trespass) and 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation is currently in progress.
Attempts to reach Joseph S Pattathu for comment were unsuccessful.
