MHADA Begins Allotment of 827 Rehab Units in Worli BDD Chawl

NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has initiated the allocation process for 827 rehabilitation tenements within the Worli BDD Chawl redevelopment project.

This allocation is targeted at eligible residents in wings F, G, and H of rehabilitation building one. On the first day, allotment letters were issued to 41 eligible residents, with 36 individuals receiving keys to their units after submitting the necessary documentation.

The allotment and possession letters are being distributed at MHADA’s project office located in Sumer Kendra, Worli, on weekdays from 11 am to 6 pm, excluding public holidays.

The Worli BDD Chawl project is part of a broader redevelopment programme covering Worli, N M Joshi Marg-Parel, and Naigaon, with MHADA acting as the nodal agency for implementation through the Mumbai Housing and Area Development Board.

The F, G, and H wings of rehabilitation building one have received their occupation certificates. MHADA confirmed that possession will be granted post-verification of required documents.

Beneficiaries are required to be present in person with various documents, including the rehabilitation tenement agreement, copies of Aadhaar and PAN cards, a notarized ₹500 stamp paper undertaking from transit camp tenement holders, three passport-size photographs, and a postcard-size family photo of those residing in the rehabilitated unit.

The residential unit allocation will occur wing-wise, starting with F, followed by G, and then H. The schedule for collecting allotment letters will be posted at the project office, according to MHADA.

Within the Worli BDD Chawl redevelopment project, a total of 9,689 residents from 121 older chawls will be rehabilitated. Those currently living in 160 sq ft tenements will be provided with 2BHK flats, each offering a carpet area of 500 sq ft at no cost as part of ownership.

The project entails constructing 34 rehabilitation buildings, each up to 40 floors high. These structures will feature stilt and partially six-level podium parking, with one parking space allocated for each tenement holder. A landscaped area is planned above the podium parking level.

MHADA will oversee maintenance of the rehabilitated buildings for 12 years as part of the Worli project.
