NEW DELHI: Sanjeev Jaiswal, vice-president and CEO of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), conducted an inspection of housing projects being developed by the Konkan Housing and Area Development Board in the Kalyan taluka of Thane district.
During his visit to project sites in Khoni, Shirdhon, Gotheghar, and Bhandarli, Jaiswal reviewed the progress of ongoing construction. He emphasized the need for quality, transparency, and timely completion of projects.
He further assessed various aspects such as construction quality, internal road access, water supply, electricity provisions, sewage management, and the green spaces and civic amenities planned for residents.
The Khoni housing project features 7,174 residential units and 152 shops designated for the economically weaker sections (EWS) and low-income groups (LIG). Of these, 2,032 units were sold via lottery in 2018, 2,016 in 2021, and 1,012 units are set for 2025, with approximately 70% of successful applicants having received possession. The remaining units are in the process of being handed over.
The Shirdhon housing project encompasses 18,692 residential units and 342 shops, also catering to EWS and LIG categories. This project offered 1,905 EWS units via lottery in 2018, with an additional 5,227 units available through lottery in 2025.
Jaiswal instructed officials to accelerate the development of civic facilities within the Shirdhon project.
He also urged the swift completion of project amenities and announced plans for an e-auction of shops in the project next month, recommending that preference be given to local beneficiaries during the auction process.
