LUCKNOW: A demolition drive conducted by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) against unauthorized plotting in Chinhat faced strong opposition from builders and their supporters on Monday, leading to a pause in operations.
The LDA team arrived at a location near Kisan Path to dismantle illegal structures within an unauthorized colony that spans nearly seven acres, acting upon court directives. As demolition efforts began with bulldozers, a crowd gathered, attempting to obstruct the operation.
According to officials, the crowd surrounded the team and reportedly threw stones at a JCB machine, instilling fear at the site. To defuse the situation, the team decided to withdraw temporarily.
Zonal officer Devansh Trivedi mentioned that the drive would resume with police support to ensure safety.
