TRICHY: The official notification has been issued for Trichy’s second industrial park in Thiruverumbur, following the establishment of the Manapparai industrial park. The State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (Sipcot) is actively promoting this initiative to attract potential investors. This industrial estate will be a dedicated land parcel allocated to a single investor within the engineering sector.

The industrial park, strategically located near the Olympic training academy on the Trichy semi-ring road, spans 148.9 acres across the Elandapatti and Suriyur villages. While boundary walls have not yet been constructed, the land has been officially designated with entrance signage directing access from the Trichy-Pudukottai national highway and Trichy-Thanjavur NH.

“We have already welcomed representatives from six companies to the site. Our goal is to award this space to a singular entity in the engineering industry, thereby maximizing job opportunities for the youth in Trichy, Pudukottai, and Thanjavur districts. The location is conveniently accessible from these three regions,” stated a senior official from Sipcot. Due to the complexities and time requirements of creating layouts and allocating plots based on size, Sipcot has decided to lease the entire land to one investor for 99 years. “We will provide essential utilities such as water and electricity. No additional road construction will be necessary since one firm will own the whole parcel,” the official elaborated.

The proximity of Trichy international airport, located 15 km away, enhances the appeal to multinational investors. Guidance TN, the state’s investment promotion agency, is engaging with leading engineering firms. Thiruverumbur benefits from an existing ecosystem that includes ancillary MSMEs associated with Bhel, the Ordnance Factory Trichy (OFT), High Energy Projectile Factory (HEPF), and private engineering enterprises supported by small-scale Sidco industrial units in nearby Ariyamangalam, Mathur, and Thuvakudi. This new industrial park is projected to create at least 5,000 job opportunities. The district administration identified this site in 2024.
