HYDERABAD: Telangana’s revenue and housing minister, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, has instructed officials to allocate 2 BHK homes to families displaced by the Musi rejuvenation project. He emphasized that the state government is committed to providing lawful compensation and necessary rehabilitation for those who relinquish their lands.
Srinivas Reddy convened a review meeting regarding the Musi project’s rehabilitation and land acquisition in the Secretariat on Monday.
“Our vision is to restore the Musi River as part of a broader ambition to elevate Hyderabad into a world-class city, transforming the river into a center for tourism, employment, and economic progress,” he noted. He explained that this initiative transcends mere development—it is about ensuring a sustainable and healthy environment for future generations. He acknowledged the longstanding struggles faced by residents impacted by pollution in the Musi River and highlighted that the project considers both past and future flood-related challenges.
“The objective is to revitalize the Musi catchment area by implementing flood control measures, improving water treatment, enhancing greenery, and developing roadways, parks, walkways, and recreational facilities,” said Srinivas Reddy.
The minister reassured that the Musi project would not harm anyone and that the government is dedicated to ensuring justice for all. He insisted that development should not come at the expense of the underprivileged and affirmed that every action would reflect a compassionate approach.
