HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court provided temporary relief to Pradeep Constructions on Wednesday, instructing the GHMC to refrain from taking any coercive action against the BLISS residential project in Somajiguda until July 23.
Previously, the civic body issued notices on July 7, claiming that the residential project’s multi-storied buildings were constructed within the full tank level (FTL) of Hussainsagar and that permissions were obtained by withholding pertinent information. The GHMC proposed the demolition of the high-rise structures.
Justice Pulla Karthik has scheduled the next hearing for July 23 and directed the authorities involved to submit their responses to the case.
Representing Pradeep Constructions, senior counsel P Sri Raghuram contended that the GHMC’s demolition notices from July 7 were illegal, arbitrary, and lacked jurisdiction, based on unverified information. He sought to nullify the notice and all related proceedings.
Furthermore, he argued that the notices were generated based on a draft FTL that had not yet been finalized.
On the other hand, senior counsel S Niranjan Reddy, representing the GHMC, requested additional time to file responses and noted that “the building is currently not in danger due to existing interim protection in a related case.”
Meanwhile, petitioners living nearby urged the court to instruct authorities to avoid conducting further inquiries related to the showcause notices issued to them.
However, the standing counsel for HYDRAA claimed not to have received the case documents and requested additional time, explaining that he could not present information to the court without reviewing the material.
After hearing both parties, the judge ordered that no coercive measures be taken in relation to the demolition notices until the next hearing date.
