CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration, T Logesh Tamilselvan, has instructed officials to ensure that all land survey numbers in the state are assigned a market guideline value by the end of June. He also emphasized the need for quicker and more user-friendly registration services.
The Minister issued these directives during the inaugural performance review meeting for senior officials at the 160-year-old district registrar’s office on Rajaji Salai, Chennai, on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by J. Kumaragurubaran, Secretary of Commercial Taxes, Registration, and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, as well as Inspector General of Registration, G K Arun Sundar Dayalan, alongside other officials.
He urged officials to treat the public courteously, ensure comfortable seating for visitors in registration offices, and provide prompt answers regarding registration procedures. He also emphasized that registered documents should be returned to applicants on the same day without unnecessary delays, aiming to prevent any actions that may provoke public complaints.
Logesh Tamilselvan highlighted that documents submitted for examination, particularly those related to building approvals, should be processed and returned without delay.
District Registrars were instructed to expedite the resolution of pending files and avoid unnecessary delays in document processing, thereby streamlining registration processes.
“His primary goal is to ensure that guideline values for all land survey numbers across the state are ready by the end of the month,” he stated.
