GURUGRAM: The Haryana government’s decision to uphold the environmental clearance (EC) for a project in Sector 28 has been contested in the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
The NGT has granted the Amaltash Residential Welfare Association (ARWA) four weeks to submit objections regarding the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) compliance report. The case is scheduled for a subsequent hearing on October 16.
Despite calls for a new traffic impact assessment, SEIAA approved the EC for Silverglades Infrastructure’s Amaltash Residential Project. The main concern revolves around whether the project complies with the environmental conditions of its EC, particularly concerning traffic access and environmental measures.
The tribunal noted in its order: “The counsel for ARWA requests four weeks to file objections to the compliance report. The request is granted.” The hearing is slated for October 16.
This case pertains to the execution of NGT’s previous orders regarding the project. During the hearing on Tuesday, SEIAA informed the tribunal that it had adhered to the directions and submitted an affidavit detailing actions taken.
As per the affidavit, a three-member committee that evaluated the project found that the traffic management plan depended on internal roads passing through neighboring residential areas. The committee recommended conducting a new traffic impact assessment by a government-approved agency and suggested re-evaluating the proposed 18-meter-wide approach road, which narrows near the project.
However, SEIAA stated that the developer had already submitted a traffic impact assessment prepared by a government-approved consultant in July 2025.
After reviewing the committee’s findings and the developer’s response, the authority concluded that there was no need to re-examine the project’s environmental clearance.
