Prayagraj agency receives 63,000 PMAY home applications

PRAYAGRAJ: Over 63,000 individuals have submitted applications for homes through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), reported Pratibha Srivastava, project director of the District Urban Development Agency (DUDA).

The agency aims to provide homes to 1.2 lakh residents of Sangam City, and is currently in the process of screening applications. Last year, 26,437 eligible applicants received housing under the scheme.

Srivastava anticipates an increase in applicants. So far, 20,000 applications have been screened, with 70% deemed eligible. The screening of the remaining applications is ongoing, and DUDA will accommodate all eligible applicants.

In addition to DUDA, the Prayagraj Development Authority, Housing Development, and local gram panchayats are also involved in advancing this initiative. The PDA is developing the Nav Prayagam Township, which spans 26 hectares in Naini and will house over 45,000 residents. Similarly, the Housing Development Board is implementing a new plotting scheme in Naini, which will provide residential plots for approximately 1,500 families.

Under the Prime Minister and Chief Minister Housing Schemes, around 12,000 to 15,000 houses will be allocated to beneficiaries in the city, with allocations managed through gram panchayats.

The state government aims to maximize housing provisions for beneficiaries in Prayagraj, a city with a population exceeding 75 lakhs.
