MUMBAI: As of July 30, a total of 421,083 beneficiaries have registered on the unified web portal for the PM Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 in Maharashtra, with the approval for the construction of 160,463 houses, as per a government release issued on Thursday.
In a review meeting, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis discussed the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and available housing options under various schemes, urging all agencies to expedite their housing projects across the state.
A total of 160,463 houses have received approval under the scheme. This encompasses Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), AHP under Public-Private Partnership (PPP), and Affordable Rental Housing (ARH).
Fadnavis stressed the importance of ensuring that housing projects move forward swiftly, allowing for timely completion and delivery to beneficiaries. He also called upon agencies to prioritize quality and adhere to established standards and regulations.
Beneficiaries from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category are being provided with five brass (approximately 500 cubic feet) of sand at no cost to assist in house construction.
A review of the “Housing Stock Management and Maharashtra Shelter Fund Strengthening Policy” was conducted to address housing needs more effectively and improve the management of available housing across various authorities. An integrated system is being developed for managing and allocating houses from agencies like MHADA, CIDCO, and SRA, according to the release.
Addtionally, a comprehensive Housing Stock Portal is being established to centralize information regarding available housing through MHADA, CIDCO, MMRDA, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), and various Central and State Government housing schemes. This portal will also assist in allocating houses for special categories, including persons with disabilities, mill workers, mathadi workers, dabbawalas, and transgender individuals.
The current housing stock includes: MHADA (15,291 units), CIDCO (11,830 units), local self-government bodies (13,575 units), SRA (2,281 units), and Shivshahi Rehabilitation Project Ltd (84 units).
Moreover, 3,945 housing units under the Shivshahi Rehabilitation Project have been temporarily allocated to various authorities for use as transit camps, according to the release.
