MYSURU: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is set to enhance its e-khata property document initiative on a ward-wise basis to ensure all 2,27,883 properties in the city are covered. Currently, e-khatas have been issued to 61,117 property owners.
To achieve full coverage, the civic body will launch awareness campaigns across all wards. After the chief minister kick-started the statewide initiative, Mysuru City Corporation achieved a milestone in e-khata distribution among civic bodies, with Mysuru district leading in overall issuance.
Out of the total 2,27,883 properties, the MCC has successfully distributed 61,117 e-khatas after processing applications and collecting necessary taxes. This includes 56,922 A-khatas and 4,195 B-khatas, representing properties in revenue layouts.
Distribution across zones thus far is: Zone 1 – 6,921; Zone 2 – 8,567; Zone 3 – 11,926; Zone 4 – 4,254; Zone 5 – 5,731; Zone 6 – 5,864; Zone 7 – 6,712; Zone 8 – 5,002; Zone 9 – 6,790.
The drive had previously slowed down due to several MCC officials being occupied with a state-initiated socio-economic survey. However, the corporation now plans to resume the initiative next Friday after zonal review meetings.
MCC Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Somashekhar Jigani stated, “We have decided to recommence the e-khata drive across all nine zonal offices. Nodal officers will be appointed in each zone to monitor progress, with e-khatas being issued within three to four days of application submission during this drive.”
Former Mayor M Shivakumar urged the government to simplify the process by facilitating online issuance. “The state government should implement an online e-khata system similar to other states, which will ease access for property owners and ensure complete coverage,” he commented.
