MOHALI: The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (Gmada) has called on landowners whose properties were acquired for the Eco City-3 project in New Chandigarh to submit or update their claims under the land pooling scheme.
In a public notice, Gmada encouraged landowners who have not yet opted for the land pooling option to download the required application form, fill in the necessary revenue details, and submit it to the Land Acquisition Collector (LAC) office, Gmada.
The authority has also requested that landowners who have previously applied under the scheme confirm or update their land pooling preferences within 15 days of the notice issued on July 12. Applicants should visit the LAC office during working hours for assistance.
Gmada stated that if existing applicants do not update their forms within the specified deadline, land pooling entitlements will be issued automatically according to the scheme’s regulations.
The Eco City-3 project is being developed on approximately 716 acres of land acquired from nine villages, including Kansala, Kartarpur, and Rajgarh, in New Chandigarh.
Under the revised land pooling policy, eligible landowners can choose developed plots instead of financial compensation. The policy offers 1,100 square yards of residential plots and 200 square yards of commercial plots per acre of acquired land, or up to 1,600 square yards of residential plots per acre where applicable under the new provisions.
Gmada has previously announced a compensation package of around ₹3,690 crore for the acquired land. The authority is also in the process of issuing tenders for roads, sewerage, water supply, and other infrastructure for Eco City-3 and the neighboring Eco City-2 Extension.
Eligible landowners can also obtain convenience certificates to receive stamp duty exemptions when purchasing agricultural land elsewhere. Additionally, beneficiaries are entitled to an annual subsistence allowance of ₹25,000 under the policy.
Gmada is urging all eligible landowners to complete the necessary formalities within the designated timeline to facilitate the timely processing of their entitlements.
