MYSURU: On Sunday, Social Welfare Minister and Mysuru District Minister HC Mahadevappa announced plans to allocate 20 acres for a new township dedicated to the residents of Ambedkar Layout in Ashokapuram, aimed at resolving their housing difficulties.
While speaking at the BR Ambedkar birth anniversary celebration at Ambedkar Bhavan on Ashokapuram’s 13th Cross, he pointed out the challenges faced by the working-class population due to increasing demographic pressures.
The minister confirmed that discussions are ongoing with the tahsildar and Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) officials to identify suitable land options either within or on the city’s periphery.
He underscored Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s dedication to Ashokapuram’s development and the allocation of sufficient funding for this initiative. “Moreover, Rs 1 crore has been set aside for the renovation of the community hall, along with Rs 20 crore approved for the completion of Ambedkar Bhavan,” he stated.
Former MLA MK Somashekar cautioned citizens against attempts to undermine India’s secular values. He called for fostering scientific thinking and constitutional awareness to empower communities.
