NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has initiated the allotment and possession process for 537 rehabilitation flats within the Naigaon BDD Chawl redevelopment project in Mumbai.
The flats are situated in towers 1, 2, and 3 of rehabilitation building number one. The allotment process is being executed at MHADA’s project office on the ground floor of tower five at Naigaon-Dadar.
On the first day, MHADA’s Mumbai Housing and Area Development Board issued allotment letters to 15 eligible residents, and possession of the flats was granted to all 15 beneficiaries after completing the necessary documentation.
Rehabilitation building number one has received occupation certificates for towers 1, 2, and 3, allowing MHADA to start handing over the flats to eligible residents.
The allotment and possession process is scheduled on working days from 11 am to 6 pm, excluding public holidays. Beneficiaries are required to bring documents such as the rehabilitation flat agreement, copies of Aadhaar and PAN cards, transit camp undertaking, recent photographs, and other required records.
MHADA stated that the process will proceed in the order of towers 2, 1, and 3, with the schedule for collecting allotment letters posted at the project office.
The Naigaon BDD Chawl redevelopment project has been named the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar BDD Complex. The redevelopment site spans approximately 6.45 hectares and currently accommodates 3,344 tenants residing in 42 chawls.
The project will be executed in two phases, involving the construction of 20 rehabilitation towers, each 23 stories tall.
On March 16, 2026, a total of 864 rehabilitation flats across five towers of rehabilitation building number one were allotted.
Eligible residents, currently residing in 160 sq ft tenements, are being provided with 2BHK flats featuring a 500 sq ft carpet area at no cost on an ownership basis.
