Ludhiana: 1,500+ Compete for LIT’s Atal Apartment Scheme

LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) has seen strong interest from residents for the remaining 179 flats under the Atal Apartment Scheme. The draw is scheduled to take place around April 14, and officials have posted the final list of applicants on the LIT website. Some applicants, however, have been asked to submit pending documents.

The LIT received approximately 1,539 applications for the remaining flats—973 from the middle-income group and 566 from the high-income group. Among these, the available flats include 43 high-income group and 136 middle-income group units. Applicants are optimistic that the construction will be completed on time, allowing for timely possession.

Chairman of the LIT, Tarsem Bhinder, noted, “We’ve received a positive response as residents are witnessing progress on the flats in Karnail Singh Nagar. Initial doubts about the scheme’s success have been alleviated, and our flats remain affordable compared to those on Pakhowal Road.” He mentioned that the team is working to meet a deadline for possession by the end of November, although some delays are possible due to labor shortages and the impacts of the rainy season.

After conducting the draws for 576 flats, the project commenced in December 2024 under the Atal Apartment Scheme. While the official completion date is projected for October 2026, officials have pledged to provide possession as soon as everything is ready, ideally by November-December. Currently, this is the only active project for the LIT in the city, and officials are focused on its prompt completion. Past delays had raised concerns among allottees, but officials have assured them that possession will be granted soon as the pace of work picks up.
