LUCKNOW: Residents with outstanding house taxes will soon have the opportunity to settle their dues under a new one-time settlement (OTS) scheme introduced by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC). This initiative will be active from August 15 to December 15, following directives from the Uttar Pradesh government.

The scheme will apply to all unpaid house tax, water tax, and sewer tax dues up to April 1, 2026, covering residential, commercial, industrial, government, semi-government, and public sector properties within the LMC jurisdiction.

Taxpayers who pay their principal outstanding amount will be eligible for a waiver or concession on accumulated interest and surcharges according to established guidelines.

For those with dues exceeding ₹1 lakh, LMC will permit payment in three installments. Applicants will need to pay one-third of their total dues when applying, with the balance payable in two monthly installments throughout the scheme duration.

Applications can be made online or offline. The LMC will establish help desks to assist taxpayers and streamline the application process.

LMC officials noted that the OTS scheme aims to enhance the recovery of long-overdue tax dues, reduce legal disputes, and strengthen the financial standing of the corporation while offering relief to taxpayers.
