LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has initiated work on the Naimish Nagar scheme, which spans 1,084 hectares along Sitapur Road, aimed at accommodating approximately three lakh residents.
Construction for the first site office began on Tuesday in Purva village, located in Bakshi Ka Talab. Land for the initiative will be acquired through consent-based agreements as per the approved Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
LDA Vice-Chairperson Prathamesh Kumar stated that 18 villages have been earmarked for the project, including Bhauli, Lakshmipur, Purba Gaon, Purva, Sairpur, Farrukhabad, Kodri Bhauli, Kamalabad, Kamalapur, Palhari, Gopramou, Barumou, Dhatingra, Saidapur, Paschim Gaon, Dhobaila, Umrabhari, and Duggaur.
The estimated cost for land acquisition is Rs 4,785 crore. The township will feature residential, commercial, and public amenities such as roads, parks, schools, hospitals, and waste management facilities,” he explained.
According to Kumar, the scheme aims to tackle housing shortages and stimulate economic growth. “It will create opportunities in industries, healthcare, education, and logistics, potentially attracting investments and generating employment,” he added.
Joint Secretary Sushil Pratap Singh noted that a team led by Zonal Officer Sangeeta Raghav commenced site office construction on Tuesday in the presence of Executive Engineer Ashok Kumar, Tehsildar Arjan Hemchandra Tiwari, and Assistant Engineer Gaurav Singh.
Singh mentioned that the LDA is currently negotiating with farmers for land acquisition. “Alongside the township, we will enhance facilities in the surrounding villages including roads, drainage systems, playgrounds, marriage halls, health centers, ponds, graveyards, schools, parks, and crematoriums,” he stated.
Officials anticipate the land deed processes will commence shortly after finalizing consent.
