LUCKNOW: Residents of Gomtinagar Extension can expect improved civic amenities now that the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has transferred the maintenance of Sectors 1, 4, 5, and 6 to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC). This decision came after a joint inspection by teams from both organizations.

Additionally, the LDA has allocated ₹40 crore to the LMC for water supply and sewage infrastructure in Gomtinagar Extension. These funds will be utilized to extend 3,000 meters of the water pipeline and 2,500 meters of the sewer line, along with other necessary upgrades.

Previously, the LDA was responsible for managing these services in the specified sectors. Following the directive from the LDA vice-chairperson, the transfer of responsibilities was initiated, identifying deficiencies during the site inspection and planning subsequent repairs and constructions.

LDA Vice-Chairperson Prathamesh Kumar stated, “To enhance civic services in the area, it was essential to transfer the responsibilities for water and sewage systems to the municipal corporation. With the full amount disbursed, the Jal Kal Department can begin work immediately.”

The approved budget will also fund the installation of four new tubewells, construction of five zonal pumping stations, repairs of 26 existing tubewells, and restoration of a damaged overhead tank.

Furthermore, approximately 12 km of sewer lines will undergo cleaning with super suction machines, and around 350 manholes will be repaired.
