LUCKNOW: Harish Chandra Agarwal has endured a 21-year wait to gain possession of a plot he secured with the Lucknow Development Authority. Although the plot in the Ramnagar Housing Scheme was allotted in 2004, Agarwal’s anticipation remains unfulfilled.
Agarwal expressed his discontent during the LDA’s Nagrik Suvidha Diwas on Tuesday. He mentioned that of the 80 plots allotted by the LDA in Ramnagar, only 60 have been handed over. The remaining 20 plots are reportedly encroached upon by a local figure, Prakash Yadav, who has constructed illegal slums on them and continues to collect rent from the residents, as claimed by Agarwal. Many original allottees have taken out loans for these plots and are still paying EMIs without having received possession.
During the session, Divisional Commissioner Roshan Jacob ordered a comprehensive survey of the area, stating that if encroachments are confirmed, an eviction drive will follow, ensuring allottees receive their rightful possessions.
Moreover, 68-year-old Suresh Chandra raised concerns regarding an unauthorized mobile tower located near Shivnagar Khadra. Despite prior removal orders, the tower remains in operation, he informed the officials. Residents also spotlighted fire safety and maintenance problems at the Khazana complex in Aashiana, alleging no actions have been taken for over a year. Jacob requested the LDA to inspect the location and cautioned that FIRs would be filed against negligent officials. The public meeting recorded numerous complaints, including 93 related to land allotments and civic amenities, with 17 resolved on-site and others referred to relevant departments.
Roshan Jacob emphasized that every complaint received during the hearing should be resolved within the designated timeframe.
