INDORE: On Monday, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) demolished 16 illegal row houses in the Anjani Nagar and Jagdish Nagar areas. This action is part of an ongoing effort to curb the expansion of unauthorized settlements.

The operation was concentrated in Zone 4. In Anjani Nagar, four row houses, illegally built near a drain, were fully demolished. In Jagdish Nagar, located in the Banganga area, 12 row houses were targeted. It was reported that six of these were close to completion, while the other six were still under construction.

The civic body also tore down roads and drainage systems being installed without proper land diversion or valid development permissions in Banganga.

The illegal construction in Jagdish Nagar was allegedly managed by one Shubham Sahu.

IMC official Ankesh Birthariya stated that action was taken once it was confirmed that numerous square feet of construction was unauthorized. Three earth movers were utilized, and over 70 municipal workers were involved in the demolition, which faced no local opposition.

Authorities highlighted that these illegal structures were being built at a rapid pace, often under the cover of night, intended for sale to unwary buyers. IMC commissioner Kshitij Singhal has urged officials to keep a close watch on unauthorized property developers to prevent public fraud.

The corporation has strongly advised citizens to verify all legal documents prior to purchasing plots or houses. The administration has warned that Jagdish Nagar and other similar illegal constructions are under scrutiny, and continuous actions will be enforced against any unauthorized developments.
