INDORE: The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has ramped up its efforts to address unstable and dilapidated buildings in the city, demolishing eight houses along Jeevan Rekha Marg on Saturday.

Officials identified these eight structures as being at risk, built on mounds of loose soil that could erode and lead to collapse during the monsoon season.

Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Kshitij Singhal, a team utilized earth moving equipment and excavators, with police protection, to demolish the eight vulnerable structures, including a crumbling building in South Tora, while ensuring a nearby house was safely vacated.

Building Officer Satyendra Singh Rajput indicated that a city-wide survey is currently in progress to find buildings at risk of collapse during the monsoon. He noted that the demolitions are crucial for public safety and future road development, reiterating that the efforts to remove dangerous structures would continue throughout Indore.
