LUCKNOW: All new group housing projects in Lucknow are now required to dedicate 20% of their parking spaces specifically for electric vehicles. These designated slots must include charging points and necessary infrastructure.
This initiative is part of the updated building bylaws being implemented under Awas Bandhu to integrate EV infrastructure within the city’s residential developments.
“This measure aims to promote low-emission transportation and facilitate the transition to sustainable mobility,” stated a senior official from the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA). Furthermore, the LDA plans to initiate a series of residential projects in areas like Gomti Nagar, Aishbagh, and Basant Kunj. The scale and configuration of these projects will depend on feedback from an ongoing online demand survey, which remains open until July 31, 2025.
Designs for the new residential setups are being revised to enhance cross-ventilation and minimize dependence on air conditioning. Floor plans are set to feature larger kitchens, bathrooms, and balconies, along with expanded green spaces in each complex.
LDA chairperson and divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob recently assessed these housing proposals and instructed officials to make designs more user-friendly and practical.
As per LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar, the identified plots consist of 4.5 acres in Viraj Khand (Gomti Nagar), 3.5 acres near Rapti Apartments (Gomti Nagar Extension), 4.65 acres on Mill Road (Aishbagh), and 3.7 acres in Sector-J (Basant Kunj), all conveniently located near schools, hospitals, and public transport. The upcoming units will offer 2BHK and 3BHK options with improved layouts and provisions for natural airflow, as well as dedicated drying areas. Each site will feature common amenities, including lifts, parking, water systems, gym, pool, yoga space, children’s play area, and clubhouse. Officials have been directed to maintain pricing below current market rates while also enhancing tree cover.
Site plans for Varun Vihar (Agra Expressway) and Naimish Nagar (Sitapur Road) were also evaluated, with instructions to incorporate mixed-use elements— residential, commercial, and logistics—to align with regional development.
