EOW Files Case Against Four for Selling Land to 80 Buyers

HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has initiated a criminal case against four individuals accused of fraudulently selling assigned land to 80 buyers, valued at Rs 3.48 crore.

The complainant, a coconut vendor from Allapur in Borabanda, claims the accused befriended him and presented an opportunity to purchase plots in Patancheru.

The complaint states that Nagesh Goud and Ravi Goud convinced him they were the landowners, while G Vara Prasad, P Shivaram, and Satyanarayana acted as brokers. They informed the complainant they would seek permission for the layout and offered him a chance to buy plots at a discounted rate as part of a pre-launch offer.

The complainant reported that he acquired two plots totaling 254 square yards in 2022 and 2023, paying Rs 10 lakh in total and an additional Rs 15,000 for registration.

“Despite repeated requests, they have neither executed the sale deed nor transferred possession of the plots,” the complainant stated.

Officials indicated that the accused had similarly defrauded 80 additional buyers, amassing Rs 3.48 crore. “We later discovered that the land shown to us was already earmarked, and the accused had no legal rights to sell it. They fabricated a layout and collected money,” the complainant revealed.

Authorities have registered a case against Ravi Goud, G Vara Prasad, P Shivaram, and Satyanarayana under Sections 318 (cheating), 316 (criminal breach of trust), and 338 (forgery) of the BNS. Police are in the process of summoning the accused for questioning.
