ED to Record Jaipur Farmers’ Claims of Land Grab by Developers

JAIPUR: The Jaipur branch of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned multiple farmers on June 3 as part of an investigation into alleged money laundering and fraudulent land aggregation, according to officials.

The farmers have accused real estate developers of unlawfully seizing their ancestral agricultural land by misusing powers of attorney.

The ED plans to record the farmers’ statements and collect documents related to these transactions.

Farmers from the Sanganer region, including Jaisinghpura, have stated that although they legally sold their land years ago and received full payment, they later found that ownership rights were purportedly altered without their consent.

Kailash Chand, in an affidavit to the agency, stated that his family sold approximately 1.82 hectares of land in 2005 to Pinkcity Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, having received the entire payment via bank transactions.

“We completed the sale legally with no other dealings. However, we later learned that powers of attorney had been abused, resulting in control over our land being taken without our knowledge. We have been issued a summons to provide documents on June 3,” Kailash Chand shared with PTI.

Another farmer, Madan Balai, received a summons from the investigation agency as well. Villagers have been instructed to present their sale documents and related banking transactions.

According to the submitted affidavit, the investigation is linked to the alleged activities of a land mafia network associated with Gyan Chand Agarwal and others. Authorities are reviewing ownership records, surrender deeds, and powers of attorney executed over the past 20 years.

A complaint filed with the Rajasthan Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) by the company noted that a colony named Shreenath Vihar was developed on part of the land, authorized by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), despite ongoing disputes over land ownership and titles.

The project was registered using false documents while concealing existing disputes. The complaint also calls for actions such as the cancellation of registration and a forensic audit.

The case is also being investigated by the Special Operations Group (SOG) in Jaipur. The RERA complaint mentions that Gyan Chand Agarwal has been involved in more than 300 FIRs throughout Rajasthan.
