NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to launch weekly special camps aimed at expediting the processing of housing conversion cases.
Starting October 23, these camps will take place at the DDA auction hall on the ground floor of Vikas Sadan from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Initially, they will be centralized at this location, but DDA is open to hosting future camps in residential areas upon request from housing societies. The primary goal is to efficiently resolve leasehold-to-freehold conversion matters.
The DDA stated, “To accelerate the clearance of pending housing conversion cases, public camps will be held every Thursday, providing on-the-spot assistance to allottees.”
Key features of these camps encompass immediate resolution of housing conversions and related queries wherever feasible. Staff from all zones will be available to offer comprehensive support and guidance regarding the required documentation. Officials will primarily handle questions related to finances and dues. All allottees facing pending conversion or related issues are encouraged to take advantage of this facility. Based on public interest, subsequent camps will be planned in various residential neighborhoods.
Direct interaction with allottees will enable quick query resolutions and facilitate case processing, including assistance with uploading necessary documents to ease the application procedure.
This initiative responds to numerous complaints from residents regarding challenges in obtaining freehold rights. The DDA clarified that properties were sold on a leasehold basis, while freehold status ensures complete ownership rights. This initiative has received endorsement from the vice-chairman of the DDA.
In April, the lieutenant governor and DDA chairman approved the disposal of DDA land on a license basis with an aim to generate ₹1,000 crore and raised conversion charges by 10% for commercial and industrial properties, though residential fees remain unchanged.
