RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh government announced on Wednesday a 50% reduction in land registration fees for properties registered in women’s names, aimed at promoting property ownership and empowering women financially.

The cabinet also granted a 25% discount on stamp duty for active military personnel, veterans from the state, and their widows when purchasing properties valued up to ₹25 lakh within Chhattisgarh.

This decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at the Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, according to an official statement.

Fees for land registrations in women’s names will now be reduced by half, helping to encourage property acquisition among women. While this is expected to result in an estimated ₹153 crore loss in state revenue, it is seen as a significant advancement for women’s empowerment, the statement noted.

In another notable decision, the cabinet approved a 25% concession in stamp duty for serving soldiers, veterans, and their widows purchasing land or buildings worth up to ₹25 lakh within the state, applicable once per lifetime.

This initiative aims to provide financial relief to military personnel who frequently relocate and seek permanent residences post-service, the statement mentioned.

Additionally, the cabinet sanctioned amendments to the Chhattisgarh Minor Minerals Ordinary Sand (Mining and Trade) Rules, 2025, allowing sand mines to be earmarked for public sector entities, including those under the central or state government, like the Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation Limited.

This amendment is projected to alleviate supply shortages and ensure consistent availability, particularly in remote regions, the statement elaborated.

A comprehensive proposal for amendments to the Chhattisgarh Minor Mineral Rules, 2015, was also approved, aiming to enhance transparency, manage control, and boost revenue in the mining sector while combating illegal mining and streamlining related processes.

The cabinet has also agreed to impose stricter penalties to deter illegal mining, transportation, and storage, with fines ranging from ₹25,000 to ₹5 lakh, the statement indicated.

Authorization was granted for the procurement of livestock vaccines from Indian Immunologicals Limited, a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), to ensure timely supply and improve disease management, ultimately enhancing livestock productivity.

The cabinet also reviewed the availability of fertilizers for the upcoming kharif season and the supply of LPG across the state.
