AHMEDABAD: The Town Development Officer (TDO) of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) executed demolition drives in the Vatva and Jamalpur regions on Tuesday, focusing on illegal constructions and encroachments on public and civic lands.
In Vatva, the AMC dismantled 14 illegal structures located around Bhoja Talav, situated along the Narol-Aslali Highway. Officials reported that approximately 12,540 sq m of lake land was reclaimed from encroachment.
Additionally, in Lambha ward, two unused toilet blocks on Gamtal Road in Saijpur-Gopalpur were demolished, along with five compound walls.
In a separate initiative, officials in the Central Zone’s Jamalpur area demolished illegal construction on a leased plot that expired in 2009. Authorities indicated that the structure was erected without permission after the lease lapsed. The individual responsible for the encroachment was a known criminal, leading the civic body to proceed with the demolition under police supervision.
Meanwhile, AMC’s solid waste management teams inspected 289 locations across the city as part of their regular cleanliness initiative. Notices were issued to 116 units for public littering, and 6 kg of banned plastic was confiscated.
A restaurant in the Chandlodia area was sealed for not complying with cleanliness regulations.
