PUNE: The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has issued notices to real estate developers
Reyaansh Logistics, Gera Projects, Godrej Properties, and Pegassus Properties, urging them to mitigate air and sound
pollution in the Megapolis area of the Hinjewadi IT park.

Local residents have filed multiple complaints with the industrial authority concerning uncovered and overloaded
trucks transporting earth and debris, causing dust accumulation on roads. Megapolis is a major residential area
within phase III of Hinjewadi, where several developers are actively building projects.

This marks the second time MIDC has alerted developers based on residents’ complaints.

MIDC executive engineer RG Totla stated, “Dust and debris from these vehicles pose significant health risks to
residents in the Megapolis area, with whom we recently met. We have instructed the developers to adhere to the
guidelines.”

All four developers—Reyaansh Logistics, Gera Projects, Godrej Properties, and Pegassus Properties—have claimed
compliance with environmental regulations and submitted statements in response to the MIDC notices.

“Godrej Projects is dedicated to adhering to all regulatory standards across its sites. We aim to resolve any
identified issues promptly. Sustainability, transparency, and compliance are core principles, and we are engaging
with relevant authorities,” said a company spokesperson.

Gera Developments remarked, “We comply with the air and sound pollution control guidelines set forth by MIDC and
MPCB. Measures implemented at our Hinjewadi site include covered transportation of materials, dust suppression
via water sprinkling and fogging, controlled vehicle movement, and air quality monitoring systems.”

According to their statement, MIDC’s recent communication reinforced these requirements and introduced additional
measures that Gera is promptly implementing. “We are committed to regulatory compliance, environmental respect,
and minimizing disruption for the local community.”

Samar Gite from Reyaansh Logistics mentioned that they had addressed the MIDC query and complied with the notice
conditions.

Pegassus Properties could not be reached for comment by press time.

Local resident Satyajit Rautray expressed concerns about noise and dust pollution, stating, “Water needs to be
sprinkled on the roads, and truck tires cleaned to reduce dust. We’ve raised these issues with local officials, who
are now addressing them.”

Prateek Joshi, a seven-year resident, noted he has stopped using a motorcycle due to slippery roads caused by
debris. Residents keep their doors and windows shut all day due to ongoing dust from construction. “Noise levels
and air quality have worsened significantly, even in the early morning,” he added.

Nitin Sharma, another resident, stated, “We’ve contacted the MPCB, which has directed developers to take action.
The noise and air quality resemble that of an industrial zone rather than a residential area, affecting the health
of residents—especially children and the elderly.”
