MYSURU: Rakesh Singh, chairman of the Karnataka Real Estate Regulatory Authority (K-RERA), announced on Saturday that the authority is considering implementing a single-window clearance system. This initiative aims to streamline the coordination and follow-up on permissions necessary from various government agencies for real estate projects.
Singh explained that once developers or promoters register with K-RERA and comply fully, the authority will take on the responsibility of liaising with the relevant departments to ensure timely approvals. He added that if an agency does not clear a proposal within the designated time frame, the approval should be considered as deemed granted.
He reassured stakeholders that K-RERA will undertake necessary adjustments based on their feedback.
Singh pointed out that the RERA Act does not provide for third-party inspections. Additionally, he mentioned a legal constraint: K-RERA currently lacks the authority to de-register sale agreements, as this power is solely with civil courts. Efforts are in progress to obtain this power for K-RERA.
K-RERA secretary HR Shivakumar noted that the real estate sector supports around 200 ancillary businesses.
DC G Lakshmikantha Reddy commented that the last 1.5 years have been challenging for the Mysuru real estate market. However, after Muda khatas were transferred to ULBs, stability has returned and e-khata issues have now been addressed.
