AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority (GujRERA) has commenced issuing notices to developers who are marketing their projects and taking bookings prior to obtaining RERA registration, which violates the RERA Act.
Sources report that GujRERA plans to launch a significant campaign against this practice statewide. The authority has also introduced new marketing regulations that will take effect on June 15.
According to a source, “The authority has issued warnings to several developers who began promoting their projects and accepting bookings without registering them with RERA. This measure is aimed at ensuring customer safety. In addition to responding to public complaints, the authority actively addresses this issue on its own.”
The authority has outlined new compliance requirements for marketers:
“Developers must prominently display their Unique RERA registration number in all advertisements and brochures. Additionally, a QR code corresponding to the RERA certificate must appear at the top-right corner of brochures, booking forms, and print advertisements. In video ads, the QR code must be visible for a minimum of three seconds, and in audio ads, the RERA number must be verbally announced,” explains Manan Doshi, a chartered accountant.
“The RERA number must be visible in all social media content. Failure to comply could result in a penalty of up to 5% of the estimated construction cost, as stated in Section 63 of the RERA Act. Real estate promoters, agents, and marketers must update their advertising materials before June 15 to avoid penalties,” he added.
