HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy issued directives on Friday to ensure that homes under the ‘Indiramma’ housing scheme are constructed within residential areas of the Hyderabad Core Urban Region (CURE).
During a meeting with ministers and officials, Reddy emphasized that beneficiaries might face challenges in accessing job opportunities and commuting if houses are situated far from residential zones.
He instructed officials to identify unused lands from various government departments for the construction of these houses, as noted in an official release.
The government plans to construct 7,680 flats in the initial phase of the scheme.
These houses will be built in assembly constituencies such as Rajendranagar, Maheswaram, Serilingampally, Ibrahimpatnam, Malkajgiri, Nampally, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Karwan, Bahadurpura, Amberpet, Kukatpally, Medchal, Qutbullapur, Sanatnagar, Secunderabad Cantonment, and Malakpet.
The project aims to create multi-storey buildings, with each flat offering a built-up area of 525 sq. ft. The government will cover land costs.
The estimated construction cost for each unit is Rs 11 lakh, with the government providing a subsidy of Rs five lakh. Beneficiaries are required to pay Rs six lakh to the government in four installments.
