NEW DELHI: In a favorable verdict for Shah Rukh Khan, the Supreme Court has dismissed a petition challenging the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance for the addition of two more floors to his residence, Mannat, in Mumbai.
During the proceedings, Chief Justice Surya Kant along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana questioned the credibility of the petitioner and declined to interfere with the National Green Tribunal’s ruling from September 16, 2025.
“They are residing there. If they wish to build additional floors in a residential space, it’s their decision. The law is generally adhered to. Why should any neighbor or outsider interfere?” remarked the bench.
Senior advocate Shoeb Alam, representing the petitioner Santosh Daundkar, argued that the case should not receive special treatment simply due to the fame of the individual involved.
He highlighted that Daundkar has previously exposed the Adarsh housing scam and is recognized as an esteemed activist.
The NGT had previously dismissed Daundkar’s plea, which claimed that the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority made an error in granting CRZ clearance for the renovations to the actor’s ocean-facing Bandra house.
The tribunal concluded that there was no procedural error or legal issue in the approval given by the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority.
